HCH members, Take Notice!!

Our 25th Anniversary is fast approaching which means another chance to put your hornworking skills to the test. The Guild Master’s Challenge is still in full effect. There is still time for you to craft an entry before March, 2022, in the spirit of the 18th century craftsmen of old. The challenge is open to all HCH Members. Those taking on the challenge must create a horn object utilizing only those tools and atmospheres available to 18th century hornsmiths. This means no power tools, modern implements electricity, or modern lighting. As one who has taken on the challenge in the past, I can tell you it was an invaluable learning experience and gave me a new appreciation for hornwork.

The award is presented to the winning entry of the challenge. This year it will be a handcrafted item made by redware artisan Selinda Kennedy especially for this event. Please document your project through photos so all members can appreciate the process and efforts of all involved.

Good luck and I look forward to seeing your entries!

Your Most Humble Servant,

John DeWald, Guildmaster
